David Hyland has had some 30 years experience
of working with railways around the world and has a reputation
of someone with the ability to bring the right team together.
For the last 5 years he has been running Rail Personnel an international
recruitment business that specialises in recruiting people for
the rail industry. Prior to this he ran his own consulting business
in Asia and the UK.
He has an intimate knowledge of rail activity in Australia, the
UK and South East Asia and maintains contact with a large number
of people working in the rail industry in these areas.
David started his career with the Australian railways in 1970
after graduating in civil engineering. After working with the
New South Wales Railways for 10 years in track maintenance and
in investment planning, he then worked for a number of companies
in manufacturing and consulting before forming his own consulting
business in 1987 to do engineering and economic feasibility studies
for railways in Australia and South East Asia.
By 1997 when David sold TMG International Ltd, the UK operation
of TMG, to Brown and Root he had built the UK and Hong Kong business
up to one with over 100 staff. From 1997 to 1999 David was responsible
for developing Brown and Root's major rail projects business in
South East Asia while still running the Hong Kong practice of
TMG.
In April 1999 he formed Rail Personnel a specialist international
recruitment agency targeting the rail industry.
David is on the board of a number of companies in the rail industry
and is a member of the Institution of Engineers Australia, a Fellow
of Permanent Way Institution, an Associate Member Institute of
Railway Signal Engineers, a Member American Railway Engineering
Association and a Member of the Institute of Directors in the
UK.
