Jean has 18 years of sales, marketing and consulting experience in
the Rail and Rail Supply Industry, both in Canada and Southern
Africa.
Jean completed her MBA, specializing in Marketing, in 1986.
As part of her thesis, she researched the impact on sales in
North American railroads as a result of deregulation in the
industry. After completion of her MBA, Jean joined Canadian
Pacific Ltd. as the Marketing Manager for their international
consulting division (CPCS Ltd.). The primary focus of this division
was to provide consulting services to railways internationally,
with funding from multilateral and bilateral funding agencies.
In 1990 Jean relocated to Southern Africa for CPCS Ltd. to establish
a sales office in Zimbabwe which bid on rail projects in the
Southern African region. While managing the sales office, Jean
acted as deputy director of a regional rail sector project funded
by the Canadian International Development Agency. Additionally,
she undertook consulting assignments and represented various
North American companies and government aid agencies. Those
assignments included: project management, marketing studies,
needs assessment, operational assessments, strategic planning,
economic and management studies, and business development. The
majority of assignments were related to the transportation industry.
In 1996 Jean joined General Electric Transportation Systems
as the Account Executive, responsible for Eastern Canada. Jean's
responsibilities included account leadership, development of
the sales strategy related to locomotive sales & service, and
the introduction to her customer base of new rail related technologies.
She was also a member of the Business Leaders Council of GE
Canada.
Jean's business interests are twofold: strategic marketing and
exceeding customer expectations. She recognizes the importance
of building relationships with customers for the long term.
She feels that the consulting business has provided her with
solid training in matching the deliverables of an assignment
to the terms of reference for the job.
Over time Jean has had the opportunity to provide direct and
indirect input to the recruitment and mentoring of new employees,
country representatives and rail project candidates. Most recently
she has provided coaching and mentoring to the clientele of
a Montreal-based non-profit organization focused on helping
young adults start their own businesses. Jean feels she has
found her niche in matching competent individuals with exciting
careers as part of the Rail Personnel Team.
