Mike YeomanMike has over 25 years of railway qualifications and is a professionally qualified Railway Engineering Executive. As a Chartered Engineer with experiences from New Zealand, Europe, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom, he is an expert specialising in modern rolling stock and maintenance.

Mike started his engineering development with a Bachelor's in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. His career began in the United Kingdom at British Airways where he learned the basics of Maintenance. He took on Supervisor and Manager roles and was responsible for fleet maintenance, heavy repair and paint shops, depot management and rolling stock. Mike was active in managing staff and leading the technical direction of his teams in maintenance.

In 1991, Mike relocated to Hong Kong and joined the Kowloon Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC). He had full executive responsibility for all rolling stock matter including the safety, design, maintenance and overhaul of fleets. As the Manager overseeing the East Rail/West Rail Rolling Stock, Mike was able to improve reliability of KCRC's EMU fleet and concurrently, to reduce the rolling stock fleet maintenance costs. His knowledge in rolling stock also allowed him to help KCRC implement new safety management approaches as well as to contribute in implementing the modernisation and redevelopment of other rolling stock maintenance facilities in Hong Kong.

Mike then joined Bombardier Transportation in 1998 to manage two 12-year maintenance contracts. During that time, he was involved with Bombardierˇ¦s Atlantic Europe Division including design, tendering, business growth and operational matters. He helped integrate the current maintenance professionals into new train designers and ensured improvements in train life cycle costs, reliability and availability. In addition, he successfully introduced Bombardier's new trains in the United Kingdom along with the design and construction of a new maintenance and overhaul centre.

Mike's maintenance skills were then utilized at Alstom Transport in New Zealand as Chief Executive Officer, where he was responsible for the operation of maintenance with locomotives, wagons, and DMU's. His contributions were quickly seen with an increased reliability in locomotive fleet and a reduced wagon fleet maintenance cost. He then put his executive ability towards restructuring the management team and facilitating commercial awareness and cultural improvement.

Mike's familiarity in rolling stock and maintenance is also evident from his list of professional qualifications including Fellow of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Fellow of the Institution of Permanent Way Engineers, Member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers and Member of the Institution of Professional Engineers of New Zealand.

In addition to his credentials, Mikeˇ¦s experience has allowed him to build on his technical skills and mature into executive wisdom. He is aware of translating business targets into workable plans but concurrently to utilise modern and customer focused approaches with his international experience to ensure quality. Mike's personality and work style is now replicated on the Rail Personnel Team, where his expertise in Rail is used to match people and positions.
