In Perth, Western Australia, our client is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to control, develop, manage and coordinate the provision of engineering services to client organisations; and in Johannesburg, South Africa, we have a vacancy, with a client producing a range of geosynthetic products, for an Area Manager who will be responsible for generating business in the infrastructure market.

The third position on offer this week is based in Beijing, China, where we are looking for a Transportation Operations Manager.

Our client is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to control, develop, manage and coordinate the provision of engineering services to client organisations in Perth, Western Australia.

Responsibilities include:
  • develop the organisation’s engineering competence and market advantage
  • select, develop and deploy engineering expertise to ensure projects are completed on time in accordance with budgetary and quality requirements
  • plan, allocate and coordinate resources and projects in an efficient and effective manner
  • develop engineering standards, systems and procedures within the organisation

Job Description:
Our client is looking to place an Area Manager in South Africa who will be responsible for generating business in the infrastructure market. The client produces a range of geosynthetic products such as Geotextiles, Geogrids, Geomembranes etc.

Responsibilities include:
  • introducing the products into the South African Environment and gaining acceptance thereof
  • developing the market within and then beyond the borders of South Africa and depending on the success of the introduction, for setting up a South African Office and managing the business further; and
  • expanding the business to include the client's environmental activities also exists.
Requirements:
  • Graduate Civil Engineer with experience in the South African environment with local authorities, railways or as a contractor or consultant
  • 5 to 10 years relevant experience in civil engineering
  • experience with Geosynthetic products and their application
  • business development and/or sales and marketing experience will be an advantage
  • fluent English
  • knowledge of Afrikaans and/or local African languages will be an advantage and
  • South African citizen or be in possession of a valid work permit.

Job Description:
Our client is seeking a Transportation Operations Manager to be based in Beijing. The position will involve leading the operational aspects of a rapidly expanding team in Mainland China.

Responsibilities include:
  • leading the delivery of project work across multiple railway systems and disciplines
  • managing the day-to-day activities of the transportation team
  • monitoring and reporting on project and overall operational performance
  • developing and implementing staff training and mentoring programmes; and
  • working closely with clients to ensure project objectives are achieved.
Requirements:
  • experience in leading multi-disciplined teams within the railway sector
  • at least 15-20 years experience, majority of which should be within the railway sector
  • solid understanding of modern safety and asset management processes and systems
  • experience in applying standards such as EN50126, 50129, etc
  • previous experience and thorough understanding of the processes and methods related to Independent safety assessment system assurance
  • strong interpersonal skills and experience in lead multi-cultural projects or operations; andreading and speaking Chinese (Putonghua) will be preferred.
