4 March 2010. Vol 2, Issue 1

Dear Readers,

Those working in finance in the railway sector should spare a thought for India Railways (IR) Minister Mamata Banerjee who recently brought down the company’s 2010-2011 budget.

India Railways has one of the largest and busiest rail networks in the world, transporting over 18 million passengers and more than 2 million tonnes of freight daily. IR operates both long distance and suburban rail systems on a multi-gauge network of broad, metre and narrow gauges, covering a network of over 63,000 kilometres. It is also the world’s largest employer with more than over 1.6 million employees. That’s a lot of people to keep happy! The last story in this week’s RailNews provides this year’s budget highlights.

Two locations, three fantastic Jobs of the Week. Hong Kong is the home of our first position. We are seeking a high calibre, multi-lingual Lead Safety Assessor to take on a challenging role with a leading organisation that provides professional consultancy and support services. We then head south to Sydney where our client, a leading global player in the energy and resources markets, has vacancies for a full time Principal Track Engineer and a full time Senior Track Engineer.
