Dear Readers,

Train enthusiasts in Australia might like to head off to Adelaide next week for some railway nostalgia. On Friday 14 September, five competing rail companies are uniting to form a single train that will travel from Adelaide to Port Augusta return to mark 100 years since the first sod was turned to build the Trans-Australian Railway.

CFCLA, Genesee & Wyoming, Pacific National, QR National and SCT Logistics are each providing a locomotive for the event with Great Southern Rail providing passenger cars.

The centenary event is open to the public and will be celebrated at Port Augusta Train Station. For further details go to http://www.ara.net.au/site/Trans-Australian-railway-centenary.php.
