27 December 2023. United States. Amtrak Awards Contracts for Susquehanna River Rail Bridge Replacement

Amtrak has awarded a key contract to the Flatiron/Herzog Joint Venture for the Susquehanna River Rail Bridge Replacement Program, alongside two supporting contracts to an AECOM-led team and Fay Construction. The Flatiron/Herzog Joint Venture has been selected as the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) contractor for constructing two new bridges, as well as the associated track work.

27 December 2023. France. Investment company RIVE expands rolling stock interests by €300m

French private investment company RIVE has secured €300m ($328m) financing to purchase 55 new locomotives to bolster its European leasing activity. RIVE said the capital was provided by a banking consortium, including large French banks Crédit Agricole and Société Générale. The order for 55 locomotives includes units from three different manufacturers.

27 December 2023. Russia. Port link and Trans-Siberian tunnel inaugurated

A 49·7 km railway line to the port of Lavna, and a 926 m long double-track tunnel on the Trans-Siberian railway line were inaugurated on December 15. The inauguration events were attended by President Vladimir Putin via a video stream. The newly built 49·7 km railway line links the deep-water ice-free port of Lavna on the shore of the Kola Bay to Vyhodnoj on the existing network south of Murmansk.

Our client is the major independent government roads & transportation authority in Dubai and has asked us to find a Manager to be responsible for the management of Rail Construction Projects section operations and activities within the Rail Planning and Projects Development Department. Provide the necessary supporting role to the Director of Planning & Project Development in the execution of all his duties in order to ensure timely and good continuity of the Department"s planning and management roles.

Responsibilities:

# Manage the application of value engineering throughout the rail projects.

# Manage the rail Construction Projects information and knowledge including lessons learned database

# Direct preparation and distribution of electronic, written, and verbal information to inform employees of policies, procedures, and ensure that all announcements are distributed on time to all locations.

# Monitor the project design, construction and coordination of 3rd Parties issues related to the project.

# Coordinate with the Contractor and the Engineer and ensure that NOC"s are processed and issued in accordance with approved procedure.

# Review and advice on the program to ensure Contractor/Engineer implements approved plans and procedures, and reporting on progress against predetermined time, cost, quality, specifications and service standards. Ensuring the review project planning report and identify appropriate mitigation strategies to overcome problems related to the project.

# Provide recommendations on all aspects of the commercial, technical, programming, quality, safety, health & environment and contract administration efforts associated with the Project.

# Incorporate the concept of sustainability to all projects involved where possible and as per the latest directives from the Authorized Governmental Body within the emirates of Dubai.

Job Description:

Our client is the major independent government roads & transportation authority in Dubai and has asked us to find a Manager Rail Design to manage and Supervise the rail stations design and development and other buildings & infrastructure of Rail agency projects and ensure design guidelines & standards ,as well as International best practice is recognized and implemented for the betterment of the Railway Projects in Dubai.

Responsibilities include:

# Implement sustainability requirements & standards to all projects where possible and as per the latest directives from the Authorized Government Body within the Emirates of Dubai to ensure reduced operating cost at the end.

# Carry out internal studies to enhance revenue/ reduce cost/ enhance customer satisfaction and raise it to the management approval.

# Prepare, manage, organize and monitor the development, update and implementation of the Rail design standards, measurements and manuals as required and necessary.

# Ensure that all sections' design criteria conform to Railway standards, Local Regulations and to client requirements.

# Provide leadership role for any value engineering exercises related to projects design.

# Manage the Rail Design Section"s budget, monitor implementation, evaluate and recommend specific adjustments during the implementation to satisfy project needs as well as follow up on payments until projects close out.

# Coordinate, review, and approve developers" connections to metro stations" design in coordination with other sections / departments and ensure the stations will maintain an acceptable level of service as well as recommend modification to station planning/design.

# Manage the performance management system of the section and ensure the forms are complete in all aspects including counselling remarks, identification of training and development needs of employees.

* Experience with supervising Railway RAMS engineering including Verification and Validation (V&V).

* 2-3 years of supervisory experience.

* Experience with communication protocols such as RS232, RS485, MVB, Ethernet & Internet protocols.

* Extensive knowledge of computer hardware and software.
