24 October 2024. Australia. Inland Rail scores sustainability certification

Inland Rail has been recognized by the Infrastructure Sustainability Council, receiving several achievements for the Narrabri to North Star Phase 1 project. Encompassing 176km of upgraded track, the Narrabri to North Star Phase 1 project is the longest linear infrastructure project certified by the ISC and was awarded an ‘Excellent’ As Built rating. Among the upgrades were improvements to seven bridges and increased safety at 57 level crossings, with ten passive level crossings upgraded to active with bells, lights, and boom gates installed at the crossings.

22 October 2024. France. RATP Orders Custom Stadler Locomotives for the Paris Metro

RATP, the operator of the Paris Metro, has ordered twelve custom locomotives from Swiss rolling stock manufacturer Stadler. They will be electric and be used to perform servicing, maintenance, and repair works on the infrastructure of the entire RATP network and be introduced into passenger service starting in 2027. The network has a total length of 245km. This is Stadler’s first-ever order from RATP. The framework agreement also includes an option for two additional vehicles. RATP will add these locomotives to its existing complement of vehicles.

22 October 2024. Kazakhstan. Wabtec secures $405m Kazakhstan locomotive deal

The new locomotives are engineered to endure Kazakhstan's harsh weather and rugged mountainous terrain. US rail manufacturer Wabtec has finalized a $405m deal to supply Evolution Series ES44ACi locomotives to Kazakhstan’s national railway company, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ). This agreement is said to be a major upgrade for KTZ’s aging fleet and set to meet the increasing rail transport demands in the region.

23 October 2024. Netherlands. Arriva wins Dutch train and bus operating contact

The province of Gelderland has awarded Arriva the contract to operate the Achterhoek Rivierenland package of rail and bus services from December 14, 2025. EBS and Keolis had also bid for the contract which covers regional passenger train services on the Apeldoorn – Zutphen, Zutphen – Winterswijk – Arnhem and Arnhem – Tiel lines. Arriva has operated these routes since 2012, as well as bus services in Rivierenland which it has run since 2003 and buses in Achterhoek taken on in 2010.

23 October 2024. Egypt. Sinai passenger train launched

The first passenger service in more than 50 years ran on the 100 km line linking Al Ismailia on the Suez Canal with Bir-al-Abd in the north of the Sinai Peninsula on October 7. Travel was free of charge for the first week. Transport Minister Kamel El Wazir said plans to boost transport infrastructure in Sinai include a new line from the coastal city of Arish to Taba on the Gulf of Aqaba. Completion is planned for 2030, stimulating economic growth, increasing local employment and contributing to the development of natural resource extraction and agriculture.

21 October 2024. Philippines. RATP Dev and JR East join forces for Manila commuter rail bid

East Japan Railway and Paris transport operator RATP’s international business are to co-operate to bid for the contract to operate and maintain the future North-South Commuter Rail line in the Manila region. RATP Dev said the 147 km NSCR is one of the country’s most ambitious projects, and offers a major opportunity for the two operators to leverage their ‘unique expertise in managing high-capacity networks’ and build on more than 10 years of co-operation and exchange of technical expertise.

21 October 2024. Australia. NSW announces 10-year plan to develop regional rail network

The programme will explore potential synergies with existing initiatives, such as Inland Rail and Freight Policy Reform. The New South Wales (NSW) Government has launched the Regional Network East/West Uplift (RNEW) Programme, aimed at developing a ten-year plan for regional rail infrastructure. The programme represents a shift from ad-hoc investment decisions to a more structured, evidence-based approach, addressing the full needs of the regional rail network. 18 October 2024. India. Alstom Delivers First Driverless Trainset for Chennai Metro Phase II

Alstom has successfully delivered the first Metropolis metro train for the Chennai Metro Phase II project. Manufactured in its Sricity site in Andhra Pradesh and designed in Bangalore (Karnataka), these trains are 100% ‘made in India’. They have a top operating speed of 90km/h with a standard operating speed of 80km/h. Olivier Loison, Managing Director Alstom India, said Chennai Metro had become a beacon of efficient and reliable transportation.

Our client is a global railway infrastructure equipment and technology company and they are looking for a Product Manager Welding + EQC - Asia Pacific to be based in Sydney, Australia.

The Product Manager Welding + EQC - Asia Pacific will be responsible for providing market oversight & support on all BU APAC ATW and EQC products with a focus on central APAC, Southeast Asia and ANZ, including India and China as required.

Key Areas of Activity and Responsibility:

1. Define and implement market & product strategy for ATW and EQC products in the APAC region

- Define and execute the product strategy for the region, aligned with global business objectives and tailored to regional market demands.

- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify new product opportunities and areas for improvement within the product portfolio.

- Collaborate with regional leadership and global product teams to ensure product roadmaps meet both local and global business goals.

- Provide product leadership & coordination of Technical Support team in Australia, Indonesia & Thailand to create customer centricity and opportunity management through technical engagement.

- Develop and implement Perfect Weld (i-weld), finalise homologation and commercialise HFP, Auto seal and launch auto aligning.

2. Cross-functional Leadership:

- Lead cross-functional teams including technical engineering, sales, and marketing to develop and launch Welding and Equipment products.

- Drive collaboration between engineering and product teams to ensure technical resources are aligned with product goals and timelines.

- Provide leadership between customer facing sales, technical departments and customers to ensure full customer satisfaction, including point of contact for specific customers.

- Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring alignment on product direction and business priorities.

- Improve footprint performance for VCP, including efficiency in transportation and supply chain improvements within current group manufacturing capability.

3. Customer and Market Insights:

- Serve as the regional expert on customer needs, market trends, and competitive landscape, providing insights that shape product development.

- Work directly with customers, partners, and the sales team to gather feedback and ensure products meet user requirements.

- Drive ATW & EQC sales through redefined supply chain, opportunity creation, strategy and implementation in all markets of responsibility, including potential for partnerships / distributors.

- Where appropriate develop new business models for ATW, drawing upon full APAC models to penetrate underserved markets with potential supply routes in opportunity markets.

- Market monitor, reporting and strategic targeting of the ATW market to increase market share.

- Train, develop and support market support for customer facing sales team.

Job Requirements:

- University Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or Commerce from a recognised tertiary institution.

- Post graduate qualification in Management from a recognised tertiary institution.

- Proven experience and success over a number of years in a similar role.

- Proven people management skills with demonstrated ability to lead a team at all levels of management and employees.

- Excellent skills in strategic planning implementation and execution of business plans to ensure the continued success of the company in the Asia Pacific region.

Job Description:

Our client is a leading EPC/EPCM engineering company and global key service provider in the semiconductor industry.

They are looking for a Commissioning Manager for work in Taoyuan.

Work content

* Leading site supervision of installation inspections / checks, testing and commissioning works at site, monitoring and surveillance of compliance to quality standards, specifications. Managing issuing NCRs for deficiencies/noncompliance, identifying snags and management / monitoring of snags closure.

* Developing Testing and Commissioning Plans, procedures, schedules as required.

* Managing review and approval of Testing & Commissioning Method Statements for each systems & equipments.

* Managing and participating in review and approval process of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) of each systems & equipments, O&Ms, As Built documentation etc

* Managing Site acceptance testing (SAT) witness and certification process for all equipment and systems. Reviewing functional test data for evidencing compliance with performance specifications and other standards. Reporting on testing and inspection results and coordinating for Engineer/ consultant's sign off /certification of the relevant systems/sub systems as applicable.

* Coordinating with Construction manager, Project Manager and contractors for Inspection of respective systems/subsystem's and documentations of functional testing record sheet for disciplines.

* Coordinating with contractors for schedule of vendor attendance at site for critical equipment, complex system packages and monitoring the vendor presence as per schedule to be prepared and agreed during project execution.

* Reviewing and monitoring availability of required consumables spares for the pre commissioning testing, commissioning and operation etc.

* Participating /conducting Safety reviews, safety hazard identification and mitigation planning with Contractors.

* Coordinating with contractors to ensure that site acceptance tests (SAT) and inspection of works are carried out as stated in the performance specifications, ITPs

* Following up & coordinating with consultants for all 3rd party inspection review of testing & certification as applicable.

* Managing and coordinating preparation of system for punch listing activities, reviewing and following up with Contractors/ consultants for the close out of punch list items, through time bound corrective action/review. Expediting/following up with the respective engineers involved in the completion of individual system punch lists.

* Managing the Lockout & Tag out activities as per approved procedure.

* Leading and attending regular construction/commissioning meetings on follow up for Pre commissioning/ commissioning activities, reviewing and following up areas of concern in the contractors preparedness/resources with regard to commissioning schedules.

* Preparing regular inputs for progress and forecast reports on relevant construction completion, pre-commissioning & commissioning, start up, etc. to project management.

* Coordinating /reviewing with contractors & relevant stakeholders for preparation of Operation & Maintenance manual,

* Develop Training Plans and coordinate., manage training activities in coordination with the Project Management Team

* Managing and ensuring handing over of the facilities to the user including all 'as built' documentation and facilitating smooth occupation in liaison with Post occupation facility management entity including necessary training, as required for the End User/Asset holder.

* Participating in project close out activities.

Our client is seeking an Expert In The Signaling Subsystem, Management and Control of the Metro System to work in Belgrade, Serbia.

Missions:

* Examines in detail the Contractor's plans and programs in the field of signalling, management and control subsystems and ensures their compliance with other plans and programs for work execution. Participates in the activities of the Contractor in the planning and preparation of the dynamic work schedule by providing advice, recommendations, references to specifications, etc.

* Organizes the monitoring of the progress of works in the field of signalling, management and control subsystems in accordance with plans and programs;

* In the event of a deviation from the envisaged plans and programs, proposes measures to overcome problems;

* In the event of a threat to life and property, orders emergency measures and ensures their implementation;

* Checks whether the installed materials are supplied with the necessary attestations, certificates, as well as other documentation proving their quality and whether they meet the appropriate regulations, specifications and applied standards;

* Supervises the quality of work performance and the accuracy of measuring all quantities of work on the signalling, management and control subsystem;

* Monitors actual costs and quantities of works on the signalling, management and control subsystem performed by the Contractor;

* Reviews and gives an opinion on the submitted requests of the Contractor for subsequent and unforeseen works on the signalling, management and control subsystem. Performs the price analysis for subsequent and unforeseen works and gives recommendations to the Client who makes decisions on these issues;

* Inspects the invoices, claims, as well as payment of orders for additional works on the signalling, management and control subsystem, i.e. change orders;

* Supervises activities related to internal control performed by the Contractors themselves and reviews their documentation. Selects samples to be tested in an independent laboratory. Makes recommendations to the Contractor regarding measures to improve methods, equipment, materials, etc. For the needs of the Investor, prepares reports and reviews on the quality, quantities and values of works;

* Reviews in detail the changes in the design and the measures proposed by the Contractor related to the signalling, control and monitoring subsystem. Depending on the size and significance of those changes, debatable issues must be forwarded to the Client for decision;

* Controls and approves the as-built designs in the field of signalling, management and control subsystems prepared by the Contractor;

* Prepares documentation and participates in the process of testing and commissioning the signalling, management and control subsystem;

* Communicates with relevant state authorities, companies and regulatory bodies;

* Ensures that the Contractor and the Client provide all necessary permits and approvals of the competent authorities and public companies and institutions in a timely manner;

* Participates in the work of the commission for the handover of finished works;

* Submits to the Client regular and, at the request of the Client, unscheduled reports and analyses, concerning this field of work;

Job Requirements:

* University degree in a relevant discipline.

* Knowledge of the English language.

* Advanced knowledge of working in Office packages and other software packages (e.g. AutoCAD, etc.);

* Expert in the signaling subsystem, management and control of the metro system must prove that he has spent at least 5 years in the position of responsible contractor and/or expert supervision on GoA4 metro system construction projects (new lines or modernization of existing lines on GoA4 level).
